Preparation for Worship

*Call to Worship—congregation reads bold print.

Great and marvelous are Your works,

   Lord God Almighty!

Just and true are Your ways,

   O King of the saints!

Who shall not fear You, O Lord,

   and glorify Your name?

 For You alone are holy.

For all nations shall come and worship before You.

--Revelation 15:3b-4a

* “Gloria Patri” --“Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen, amen.”

*Opening Prayer

*Hymn of Praise—"Speak, O Lord” (Insert)

*Responsive Reading of Creed—Apostles Creed— (Hymnal #845)

“I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.  I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary.  He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.  He descended into hell.  The third day He rose again from the dead.  He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.  From there He will come to judge the living and the dead.  I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.  Amen.”

Confession of Sin

People: “Out of the depths I have cried to You, O LORD;  Lord, hear my voice! Let Your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.  If You, LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand?  But there is forgiveness with You, That You may be feared.  I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, And in His word I do hope.  My soul waits for the Lord More than those who watch for the morning -- Yes, more than those who watch for the morning.   O Israel, hope in the LORD; For with the LORD there is mercy, And with Him is abundant redemption.   And He shall redeem Israel from all his iniquities (Psalm 130).”  Hear now our silent confessions in Jesus’ name.

Scriptural Assurance of Pardon

Hear the Good News!  “For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering.  The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart -- These, O God, You will not despise.  –Psalm 51:16-17

Responsive Psalm Reading—Psalm 66 (Hymnal 807)

Pastoral Prayer (ending with a unison recitation of the Lord’s Prayer)

“Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.  Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.   Amen.”
